Purpose, Strategy and Values

Beyond the pristine beaches, rivers and national parks, the Sutherland Shire ranks among the top regions in N.S.W. on the Index of Relative Socio-economic Disadvantage, meaning that compared to the rest of the state, residents of the Sutherland Shire are sufficiently privileged in the areas of income, education, and employment. Residents of the Shire are typically affluent, middle to upper class, and enjoy access to above average money, education, healthcare, employment, transport, and physical surroundings. However, these facts fail to tell the whole story. Amidst the perceived wealth and privilege of our region, there are tragic stories of incredible suffering and injustice. Among us are neighbours who suffer daily from the effects of homelessness, domestic violence, family breakdown, mental health, and other socio-economic disadvantages in our community.

Kingsway Care exists to serve the social, emotional, physical and spiritual needs of the Sutherland Shire and surrounding regions. Our mission is to practically show the love of Jesus through housing the homeless, supporting vulnerable children and youth, and supplying life's basics to people in need.

Our Mission

Our mission is to practically show the love of Jesus through housing the homeless, supporting vulnerable children and youth, and supplying life's basics to people in need.

Our Strategic Directives

To practically love vulnerable individuals and families through housing, personal development programs, and supplying life's basics.

We are achieving this by:

Promoting and facilitating social and individual welfare (PROGRAMS).
Delivering services using a local community neighbourhood model (ENGAGEMENT).
Promoting public awareness and involvement in social justice matters (ADVOCACY).
Collaborating with social welfare and community organisations to maximise positive outcomes for people in need (COLLABORATION).
Building a sustainable, scalable organisation that applies best-practice principles in its operations (ORGANISATION DEVELOPMENT).

Our Values

Our values are built on our christian worldview that is founded on unconditional love for all people. Our experience tells us that consistent and positive outcomes arise as we embody these three values:

Ride for Relief
Dave's Ride for Relief

I'm fundraising to pioneer a new community food project called Tamarisk.

There are thousands of people in the Sutherland Shire who are experiencing hunger and food insecurity due to financial hardship and are daily navigating stress and the negative social, mental, physical, and spiritual impacts associated with these realities.

Hunger is preventable and I am committed to making a difference for those who are going without.
Tamarisk Community Food Project

Our vision is to Renew Communities Through Food. Our goal is to build community around making emergency relief meals that provides relief and nourishment for people during the harsh seasons of life.

Platform Nine

The impacts of domestic violence, homelessness, addiction, unaffordable housing, and family breakdown are driving many in our community to the margins of society. Platform Nine is a community of refuge of hope for those who need it most.

Supplying life basics

Often the simplest things make the biggest difference. For many, access to a nutritious meal, basic furniture and household items, and school supplies is a luxury that most take for granted. Kingsway Care is committed to serving the community through offering access to some of life's basic essentials.

Homelessness soars in our biggest cities, driven by rising inequality since 2001

Homelessness has increased greatly in Australian capital cities since 2001. Almost two-thirds of people experiencing homelessness are in these cities, with much of the growth associated with severely crowded dwellings and rough sleeping.
Southern Cross Kids

Southern Cross Kids is a fun, safe and encouraging environment for children at risk. Through the experience of an annual camp and ongoing monthly Kid's Club events, young people that have suffered trauma can enjoy friendship and fun in a safe place.
Official Opening of Georges River's First Adult Crisis Accommodation Service

There are currently 23 women, or women with children, who are survivors of Domestic and Family Violence in the Georges River region, and who have become homeless as a result of their situation. These women and children have had nowhere to turn, until now.
