After 30 years of serving the community there is no doubt this has been one of the most challenging times for our organisation. During 2022 we were told that around 70% of our funding would be cut and we would also need to vacate our residence which has been an incredible refuge of hope, restoration, and transformation for many young women. Since receiving this news we have been working hard to find new funding pathways as well as a new residence. Unfortunately the new funding pathways have not been secured as yet and with the current NSW election in March, decisions are currently on hold. This puts us in a delicate position as we eagerly await new doors opening. As an organisation we are fully committed to supporting young women and therefore we will do this through our sister project Platform Nine up until June 2023 . At that point we are hoping that we are in a better place to make more long term plans around the future program and vision of Jacaranda cottage. Any referrals to Jacaranda should be directed through Platform Nine till June. In the next 12 months we need to find around $90,000 through donors, fundraising and grants. In the next 3 months around $20,000 . If you are in a position to help please reach out. We will and do continue to rely on the generosity of our supporters for the ongoing resourcing of Jacaranda Cottage. We deeply appreciate your ongoing support and we look forward with great expectation to continuing this amazing project for many years to come. Please contact us in person or over email if you have any questions. On behalf of Chrissy and the Jacaranda Leadership Team. Sincerely, Brook Stewart General Manager Kingsway Care About Jacaranda Cottage Jacaranda Cottage is a refuge for young women aged between 16 and 24 who have become homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. We exist to serve and support girls who have experienced family breakdown, domestic violence, poverty, abuse, or neglect. Our goal is to help young women through their hardship by providing a safe and supportive home that helps them move toward independent living. Our vision is to impart hope, facilitate restoration, and celebrate transformation in the lives of young women. We do this by helping girls work through their hardship, discover their identity and values, and reach their goals.
